TEC 50 Diver

Tec 50 is the next level in the PADI TecRec (Technical Diving) program, following Tec 45. The Tec 50 course is designed for divers who want to continue advancing their technical diving skills, allowing them to plan and execute more challenging and deeper decompression dives.

Here are the key features of the PADI Tec 50 course:

Depth Range:

Tec 50 allows divers to conduct decompression dives with a maximum depth of 50 meters (164 feet). This depth extension provides divers with the opportunity to explore even deeper underwater environments.

Decompression Procedures:

Building on the knowledge acquired in Tec 45, the Tec 50 course covers advanced decompression procedures. Divers learn to plan and execute dives with extended decompression obligations and more complex gas switching scenarios.

Gas Switching and Management:

Tec 50 places a significant emphasis on gas switching procedures. Divers gain proficiency in managing multiple gas mixtures during the dive to optimize decompression and address changing depth-related gas requirements.

Equipment Configuration:

The course continues to focus on technical diving equipment configurations, including the use of multiple cylinders and redundant systems. Divers become even more familiar with the gear required for deep decompression dives.

Skills Development:

Tec 50 includes skill development in managing decompression stops, gas switching procedures, and handling potential problems associated with deep and complex dives. Divers also refine their ability to use specialized technical diving equipment.

Prerequisites:

Before enrolling in Tec 50, divers must meet specific prerequisites. These typically include being at least 18 years old, having a minimum of 100 logged dives, holding a Tec 45 certification (or equivalent), and having experience with enriched air nitrox and deep diving.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the Tec 50 course, divers receive the PADI Tec 50 certification. This certification allows them to plan and execute decompression dives to a maximum depth of 50 meters.

Divers who attain the Tec 50 certification may choose to continue their technical diving education with more advanced courses, such as those involving trimix or exploring specific technical diving environments.
