Why Emergency Oxygen Training Matters for Divers
Diving-related emergencies can occur even when divers follow proper procedures.
Being able to recognize a possible diving injury and provide appropriate emergency oxygen can improve the initial response while waiting for professional medical assistance.
For a dive operation, having trained personnel who understand emergency oxygen procedures is an important part of emergency preparedness.
Emergency Oxygen for Dive Operations
This course is especially recommended for:
Dive Centers
Train your dive guides, instructors, and support staff to respond appropriately to suspected diving emergencies.
Boat Crews
Boat crew may be the first people available to assist a diver after an incident.
Resorts
Resort staff and watersports personnel can benefit from emergency-response training.
Technical & Cave Teams
Technical and cave divers operate in environments where emergency planning and appropriate support are particularly important.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the required knowledge and practical skills, participants receive the applicable Emergency Oxygen Provider certification through the selected training agency.
This is a first-response training certification, not a medical qualification.
The provider is trained to assist within the limits of their training while professional medical assistance is being activated or arranged.
Important Medical Disclaimer
Emergency Oxygen Provider training does not qualify a person to:
Diagnose a diving injury
Prescribe medical treatment
Replace a physician
Operate as a medical professional
Replace emergency medical services
Oxygen should be administered according to the training received and applicable emergency-response procedures.
When a diving emergency is suspected, appropriate professional medical assistance should be activated.
