WHAT THE CANDIDATE SHOULD BRING

Mask
Fins
Wetsuit
BCD
Regulator
Dive computer
SMB
Reel
Compass
Cutting device
Slate
Surface signaling equipment
Dive light
Personal exposure protection
Personal dive accessories
For professional development, using your own equipment is strongly recommended because a Divemaster should be completely familiar with their own configuration.
PERSONAL EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENT
A professional diver should be comfortable assembling, checking, maintaining, and troubleshooting their own equipment.
Candidates should therefore progressively transition toward using their own professional diving setup during training.
This is particularly important for candidates planning to work in:
Dive centers
Resorts
Liveaboards
Technical diving operations
Cave diving operations
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
By the end of the program, candidates should have developed stronger abilities in:
Leadership
Lead divers safely and confidently.
Supervision
Monitor divers and recognize developing problems.
Communication
Deliver clear dive briefings and underwater instructions.
Dive Management
Organize and manage recreational diving activities.
Problem Prevention
Recognize hazards before they become emergencies.
Emergency Response
Apply appropriate rescue and emergency procedures within your training.
Professionalism
Work effectively with instructors, dive guides, boat crews, customers, and other staff.
DIVEMASTER RESPONSIBILITIES
Depending on agency standards and local regulations, an active Divemaster may be qualified to supervise and organize recreational diving activities and assist instructors with training. Specifically describes Divemasters as professional dive leaders who can supervise diving activities, assist instructors, and guide appropriate recreational dives.
A Divemaster is not automatically an instructor.
You must complete the appropriate instructor-level training before independently teaching and certifying divers.
CAREER PATH
Your Divemaster certification can be the beginning of a professional diving career.
Possible pathways include:
Divemaster
↓
Assistant Instructor
↓
Open Water Scuba Instructor
↓
Specialty Instructor
↓
Master Scuba Diver Trainer
↓
IDC Staff Instructor
↓
Master Instructor
TECHNICAL & CAVE PATHWAY
For divers interested in technical diving, Divemaster can also become part of a longer professional progression:
Divemaster
↓
Technical Foundations
↓
Advanced Nitrox / Decompression
↓
Technical Sidemount
↓
Trimix
↓
Cave Diving
↓
Technical Cave / CCR
These are separate training pathways and require additional certifications and experience.
INTERNSHIP OPTION
For candidates who want more than the minimum certification experience, Seantric Diving can offer a Divemaster Internship Program.
The internship provides additional exposure to the daily operation of a dive center.
Possible activities include:
Dive-center opening/closing
Equipment preparation
Tank handling
Gear maintenance
Boat preparation
Customer briefing
Dive planning
Guided dives
Instructor assistance
Equipment washing
Dive-site familiarization
Logbook management
Surface support
Emergency planning
Customer service
The objective is to develop a professional dive leader, not simply a certified Divemaster.
WHY TAKE YOUR DIVEMASTER WITH SEANTRIC DIVING?
Real Diving Environment
Train in the waters around Samal Island while gaining experience in actual recreational dive operations.
Professional Mentorship
Work directly with experienced dive professionals.
Practical Training
More time in the water means more opportunity to develop real-world skills.
Small Training Groups
We recommend keeping Divemaster mentorship groups small so candidates receive meaningful instructor feedback.
Career-Oriented Training
Our goal is to prepare you not just to pass the course, but to understand what it takes to work as a professional diver.
WEATHER & TRAINING POLICY
Divemaster training is heavily dependent on actual diving conditions.
Training may be:
Rescheduled
Relocated
Extended
Modified
Conducted from another dive site
because of:
Weather
Waves
Currents
Visibility
Tides
Boat availability
Safety considerations
Safety and quality of training always take priority over completing the program quickly.
IMPORTANT: THIS IS NOT A QUICK CERTIFICATION
Divemaster is a professional-level qualification.
We do not recommend rushing the program simply to obtain the certification card.
PADI itself emphasizes that the required 40 dives are only the starting point and that candidates need 60 dives to complete certification.
The more time you spend:
Guiding
Assisting
Briefing
Navigating
Managing divers
Solving problems
Diving in different conditions
the better prepared you'll be for actual professional work.
READY TO GO PRO?
Take your experience to the next level.
Lead. Supervise. Assist. Inspire.
