Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Course
Learn to Use an AED. Be Ready to Save a Life.
A sudden cardiac arrest can happen anywhere—at home, at work, at a resort, on a boat, or during outdoor activities.
The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Course teaches participants how to recognize a cardiac emergency, perform appropriate CPR, and safely operate an AED while waiting for emergency medical services.
AEDs are designed to provide clear instructions to the rescuer and analyze the casualty's heart rhythm to determine whether a shock is appropriate. PADI's EFR program specifically offers CPR & AED training for this purpose.
Course Fee
₱4,500/person
Group Rate
₱3,500/person
Minimum 3 participants.
Private, resort, company, school, dive-center, and boat-crew training can be arranged.
Course Duration - 1 Day
Approximately 2–3 hours
The actual duration depends on class size and participant progress.
Current EFR information lists the dedicated AED course at approximately 2–3 hours, while the broader CPR & AED course is approximately 2.5–4 hours.
What You Will Learn
1. Recognizing Cardiac Arrest
Participants learn to recognize a potential cardiac arrest and initiate the emergency response.
Topics include:
Scene safety
Responsiveness assessment
Checking for normal breathing
Activating emergency medical services
Understanding the chain of survival
Early CPR
Early AED use
2. CPR
Participants practice basic CPR skills, including:
Chest compressions
Rescue breaths
Hands-only CPR
Proper positioning
Compression technique
Coordinating CPR with AED use
The course emphasizes practical repetition so participants become more confident responding to an actual emergency.
3. Automated External Defibrillator
The main focus of the course is learning how to safely use an AED.
Participants practice:
Turning on the AED
Following voice/visual prompts
Preparing the casualty
Applying AED pads
Allowing the AED to analyze
Understanding when a shock may be advised
Ensuring nobody is touching the casualty during analysis/shock
Resuming CPR after AED analysis/shock
Continuing the emergency response until professional help arrives
4. AED Safety
Students will learn important AED safety considerations, including:
Keeping the casualty's chest appropriately prepared
Avoiding contact during analysis
Avoiding contact during shock delivery
Following the AED's instructions
Working safely around water
Managing the scene
Coordinating with other rescuers
Important: The exact AED model used during training may differ from the AED available at your workplace, resort, boat, or dive center. The basic operating principles are similar, but users should always follow the instructions of the specific AED manufacturer.
Practical Training

Resume CPR appropriately.
Complete simulated emergency scenarios.
The goal is to develop confidence and correct response, rather than simply memorizing information.

Why AED Training Is Important for Dive Operations
For a dive center, having staff who know how to use an AED can strengthen the operation's emergency preparedness.
An AED can become particularly valuable in locations where emergency medical assistance may take time to arrive.
For a Samal-based dive operation, AED training can be useful for:
Dive guides
Instructors
Boat crews
Compressor operators
Reception staff
Resort personnel
Watersports staff

This can include:
Primary assessment
CPR
Serious bleeding
Shock management
Choking
Spinal injury considerations
AED use
Note that the dedicated CPR & AED course alone does not satisfy the CPR/First Aid requirement for PADI Rescue Diver or Divemaster; for those pathways, the appropriate EFR Primary & Secondary Care course is required.
Group & Corporate Training
We can provide AED training for:
Dive centers
Resorts
Hotels
Restaurants
Schools
Offices
Boat operators
Watersports companies
Security teams
Community organizations
Custom Group Rates Available
Training can be conducted at Seantric Diving – Samal Island or at an appropriate private/company venue.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the required skills, participants receive the applicable AED/CPR certification through the selected training agency.
This is a first-response training certification, not a medical qualification.
Participants are trained to respond within the limits of their training while professional emergency medical assistance is activated.
What to Bring
Please bring:
Comfortable clothing
Drinking water
Notebook or pen
Personal identification
Personal medications, if required
All required AED and CPR training equipment will be provided.
Important Safety Note
AED training does not qualify someone to diagnose or treat cardiac disease.
The purpose of the training is to help a responder:
Recognize → Call for help → Start CPR → Use the AED → Continue care until professional help arrives.
Always follow the AED's voice/visual instructions and applicable emergency-response procedures.
Recommended Renewal
CPR and AED skills should be practiced regularly because emergency-response skills can decline when they are not used.
PADI recommends refreshing EFR skills at least every two years.
For workplaces, resorts, or organizations, follow the renewal requirements of your employer, certifying agency, or applicable local regulations.
Be Ready When Every Second Counts
You don't need to be a doctor to help.
You need to know what to do.
